January 2012
Dear friends and family,
My how time flies, it feels as though we were just
writing last years letter. Looking back
on it, it is easy to see how much has changed.
The past year in Missouri went quickly with Elaine in school. Her spring semester began January 10th
and contained 4 classes on M-W-F. She
commuted to Warrensburg from Lee’s Summit; a 50 minute stretch one-way. David took care of AnnaLee, as a full-time
stay-at-home Dad. He takes full delight
in his time with her. We found out on
Mother’s Day that we were expecting our second!
What exciting news indeed! In
late May to early June we shared in a Driskell family vacation to Branson and
celebrated AnnaLee’s 1st birthday there. The summer was busy with 2 online classes and
an engineering internship – Elaine worked with her Dad at MeadWestvaco - Calmar
in Grandview for the month of June. AnnaLee
was a flower girl twice this year. The
first time, July 9th for Joanna’s wedding (Elaine’s sister). Later in July we took a long trip thru
Colorado, New Mexico, and Kansas to visit precious friends and family before
the fall school semester began. It was
such an enjoyable trip and a treasure to have time with them. In late August we found out that a boy was on
the way! God’s perfect timing allowed
Elaine to continue with her last semester at the University of Central Missouri. She commuted 5 days a week to complete the
remaining 5 classes needed. We
celebrated our 6 year anniversary September 13th. October 15th AnnaLee and Elaine
were in another wedding; that of Elaine’s former college roommate. Elaine graduated nearly 8 months pregnant on
December 10th with a Bachelors of Science in Design & Drafting
Technology. What will come of that now,
we do not know; her hope is to someday be able to work from home as a
Residential Designer. For now, we are
wholeheartedly enjoying family time and seek God’s direction for where we
should go from here. We have been
exceedingly blessed to have lived with Elaine’s parents this past year, Bill
and Deanna Driskell, and could never thank them enough for their kindness,
generosity, love, and support. AnnaLee
is now 19 months old. She loves to
dance, read, and enjoys every minute she gets to spend outside. Every day she seems to learn something new
and is always amazing us with her expanding vocabulary. We anticipate watching AnnaLee take on her
new role as a big sister. We pray the
adjustment is smooth for her, as well as the two of us. We are grateful for all of you and pray you
are doing well! May this new year bring
blessings to you and your families!
In His love,
The Purdy Family ~ David, Elaine,
AnnaLee, & Jedidiah
